Lobster, Lobster and Lobster

We currently have two surfers staying with us. A couple of days ago Stan stopped on the way back from surfing to pick up 6 fresh lobsters. Local Indian fisherman are always diving and catching fresh lobsters which you can buy right from their cayuco.

It was delish with some coconut rice!

Horse parade

Happened to look out the front door and saw these lovely horses walking around. They live down the hill but someone left their gate open. They did eventually make it back home safely.

Bug photos just for Jeff!

These huge grasshoppers/locusts, I really do not know what they are, but they have been hanging around for the last 2 months or so. Only a few here and there. They are huge, close to size of your hand.....yikes!

This guy was hanging on a banana tree leaf. I ended up shooing him away with a broom. They have been eating at our plants, leaving big holes in them.

Random moments

Stan hanging out after some of his special crabcakes - yum yum.

Joele staining the very top floor - yikes. This made me so nervous. I'm so glad it is all done now.

The neighbors chickens decided to hang out at our place for awhile. We eventually did get them returned to their home.

Our first batch of the sweet bananas. We figured there were approx 80 on this bunch. All the neighbors got some ;)

A very cool try across the street from us. This tree is at least 4-5 stories and full of flowers. Very cool.

Howlers a howling...

A little clip I took out on our back deck. You cannot actually see the monkeys yet, they are making their way to our hill, but thought you might like to hear their howl. It can be very loud. I would say they are this close about every 3/4 weeks. It's always fun to watch them.

BESO and a new library sign

So here I am finally updating our blog. Sorry to those of you who check this and find no updates for weeks. I used to hate it when friends would give me their blog address and then never update it, now I've become one of those people..ahhhh! Sometimes using facebook is so quick and easy that I opt for that over this. BUT aside from all that, I do have some new photos to share.

Stan, myself and our friend Susan, with the backing of BESO (Bocas Educational Service Organization - this is a non profit I joined) worked together with some of the local school kids to create a new library sign for the Bocas library. This was included with new computers and AC as well. Our part was to outline the text and the tropical border and pick up supplies for painting, then assist the kids with the painting. It was a lot of fun for us and I think for the kids too. I should also add that the Buena Vista sponsored the lunch for the kids and from what I could they enjoyed it VERY much! A very special thanks to Susan for organizing all of it and keeping us all on track, it was Susan's idea and I think it was a great one!

Stan providing some of his expert painting advice.

The kids enjoying cheeseburgers and cokes at the Buena Vista, thanks BV for sponsoring their lunch!

Stan and I made a quick trip to Costa Rica - here are just a few random pictures.
