I know...more monkeys

This was taken on 12/26/2010 right off the deck of the Doris cabana. One of about 10-12 monkeys at Island Path ;)

Bocas Christmas

Stan surprised me with our very own Christmas tree. One of the local stores actually had some shipped in to Bocas.

Other than that we continue to be busy with landscaping and home/cabana projects along with a consistent stream of surfers staying at IPP. It's been a busy last few months.

Monkey Morning

This morning we had a troop of Howeler's right outside our deck...it was very cool to watch them while we enjoyed our coffee. This was the closest they have been to the house.

There are 4 monkey's in this photo

Banana Tree

Finally one of our Banana trees is getting ready to share fruit. I've been told that it will probably take another 3 months before they are ready to pick. It was still fun to watch the very beginning stages. This tree is right outside the window of "The Doris" cabana.

Chili Cook Off

This was certainly a first for me...testing hot chili, standing on hot sand, on a hot day. This is an annual event here in Bocas. We had a good time and Plenty of chili.

August 2010 - The Weed Whacker

The husband has been working hard to keep the weeds at bay here in Bocas. Because a lot of the land is very steep, it's difficult to use a traditional lawn mower to keep it groomed. So he's been putting the weed whacker that we shipped here from US to good use - or perhaps the weed whacker has been putting Stan to good use.

July 2010 A little surf

Yesterday Stan went out for a quick surf, I went along to try and get some photos. It was a small day as far as the waves go, but he had some fun anyway...

July 2010 Paw prints

Things have been moving along slowly here, little by little we accomplish one more task that needs to be done. This was the final week for the guys we had working for us, Antonio and Joele. Great guys, and they did excellent work. The last thing on their list was to pour 3 new stairs at the end of the path. Stan helped and the 3 of them were able to finish it up quickly. Unfortunately Smiley decided to add his extra touch to them.

Stan added his extra touch as well :)

July 2010 and Smiley - Then Stanley

Smiley hanging out on our guests deck. He really is a pack animal and loves to be around the people and the action.

Stan feels very strongly about testing all hammocks after guests check out. We are ALL about quality and safety checks here at Island Path!

July 2010 and LOW on water

Currently we are supposed to be in the rainy season, but it's been very dry, so dry that we have had some concerns about our water supply. We do have two 1,200 gallon tanks for our home and the cabana's. We've decided it's best to add an additional tank, just for the cabana's. This will help in keeping everyone with the appropriate supply. Here are the guys discussing how to get this tank off the truck and half way down the hill to it's final resting spot. It was only moments after I took this photo that they unloaded it, lost their grip and the tank went rolling down the hill. :)

July 2010

It's been a full few weeks, as we've been busy with two different sets of guests coming through. First, 2 gals who were interested in seeing Bocas and the surrounding Islands, and then 4 men surfers, looking to catch some good waves. All of our guests have been Wonderful, so patient, kind and a real pleasure to meet. We took a day trip to Bocas del Drago beach, it's about a 35 minute ride through the jungle on the other side of the island. Small, quiet and very relaxing. Here is a few photos from that area.

This little restaurant, located right on the beach is a great spot to take a break for a cold Balboa and bite to eat after some swimming

Here is a shot of Sea Grapes...Stan says you can eat them, I just thought they looked interesting...hmm...wonder if you can crush them into wine :)

Another beach shot. It was a beautiful day, clear blue skies.

06/28/2010 Morning Parrots

Sunday morning, hanging with Stan drinking coffee and slowly waking up. The mornings and the evenings are the most active time for birds, especially the parrots. This morning there were quite a few squawking around outside the deck. These guys are noisy, but they have such an unusual sound, very interesting. As usual, grabbed the camera and snapped some photos.

Can you find the 2 parrots in this picture?

How about now?

Here's looking at cha!

Moved to a new tree so we can get a better view.

Flying away to start their day...see you tomorrow!

Full Moon

Yesterday was a full day, work in the morning, then the neighbors invited us over to watch the World Cup, USA vs. Ghana. Great game, too bad for USA. We then hit the beach for an hour to cool down and relax. Later that evening we hit town for a little dinner, sometimes we just need to get out the house and enjoy the town.

On the way home we noticed how amazing the moon looked. It was reflecting over the water so beautifully of course I didn't have my camera at that moment, but as soon we arrived home I grabbed and snapped some shots.

Howler Monkey

Sorry I've been so long to post something new. A lot has been happening these days, good and bad and some days I'm just too worn out to get out here and update everyone.

This morning we have Howler monkeys right outside our door. They make quite the fuss when the cars drive under them, it's pretty cool to hear them howl. I tried to get a few good close shots, I don't have my tripod, so I was a little shaky, but I think they came out okay. Hope you enjoy.
